WWE Royal Rumble 2019 Predictions: Will It Be Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Or Both?

Men’s Royal Rumble Match
Kyle: First off, we need to give SmackDown Live some credit for turning their go-home show into a showcase for their five superstars with the best chances to win the Royal Rumble match. Mustafa Ali, Samoa Joe, Andrade and Rey Mysterio all competed in stellar bouts in an attempt to gain momentum heading into Sunday. We also got Randy Orton’s return to let us know that he’s always a threat in these kind of matches.
I think each man has a great shot at winning, along with Raw’s Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre. With all these guys holding a legitimate shot at being the last man standing, I’m going to go out on a limb and see that The Demon Finn Balor shocks the WWE Universe and pulls double duty. Earlier in the night he’ll fall just short as Finn Balor against Brock Lesnar, but in order to redeem himself, he’ll dig deep and find something inside of him to reclaim another opportunity at WrestleMania.
Prediction: The Demon Finn Balor
Joe: Because of the Becky Lynch/Charlotte Flair/Ronda Rousey feud and the possibility of Sasha Banks pulling an upset, the Women’s Rumble feels a thousand times more interesting than the Men’s Rumble. Here, I’m like “eh”. Drew McIntyre? Eh. Seth Rollins? Eh. I want to be SHOCKED by this year’s Rumble result and get behind someone like I never have before, but it just doesn’t feel like I’m going to get rewarded for it. But I’ll go with Rollins, because he was on absolute fire in 2018 and seems like a guy WWE could finally give the BIG boost to.
Prediction: Seth Rollins
Chris: All signs point to Seth Rollins winning this one to face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania. However, Rollins doesn’t necessarily need to win this to eventually get a title shot against Lesnar; WWE could easily book some sort of Gauntlet/Elimination Chamber/Six Pack Challenge sort of match to determine the next top contender for RAW’s top prize and have someone else — like, say, Mustafa Ali — win and challenge for the WWE Championship. However, a SmackDown star has won this match the last two years, so I could see WWE giving it to a RAW guy this year to help balance the scales. So while every part of me wants to pick Ali — though I think he’ll have a good showing — Rollins makes the most sense if they want to choose a RAW guy.
Prediction: Seth Rollins
Bryan: I wrote earlier in the Rumble build that WWE was failing to use the Royal Rumble matches to create new stars at WrestleMania. Instead, the company relies on the same old names to win the Rumble, and get a “main event” Mania match buried in the middle of the card. With that in mind, I’m guessing the winner of the Men’s Rumble will be a former world champ, or a perennial main event presence. My best guess would be Seth Rollins, going on to dethrone Lesnar at Mania, but don’t sleep on Samoa Joe getting the 2018 Nakamura treatment.
Prediction: Seth Rollins
Patches: The Royal Rumble matches are notoriously difficult to predict, but we’ve got some definite favorites this year. I expect spectacular performances by quite a few superstars here, but only one man can walk out the winner. I’m predicting the match’s final four competitors will be Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, Samoa Joe, and Andrade with Seth Rollins taking the victory and punching his ticket to WrestleMania.
Prediction: Rollins eliminates Andrade to win
Joe Anthony Myrick: Seth Rollins is one of the hottest acts on the Raw roster and no one else comes close to touching him. Definitely no one else one Raw’s roster is hot enough to take the title off Brock at Mania – or at least make a believable threat to the title – so I’ll go with Rollins. Drew McIntyre would be a secondary choice, but seeing Rollins beat him last Monday makes me skeptical.
Prediction: Seth Rollins
Jesse: There is quite a bit of curiousness by yours truly in this match. Who will be the surprise entrants? I’m calling out Velveteen Dream, EC3 and Rob Van Dam for starters. I’m also not convinced that R-Truth will be number 30 even though he won the mixed tag match with Carmella. Something tells me that Braun Strowman may get involved and hulk smash R-Truth before he gets to the entrance.
We could go multiple ways with the winner. Randy Orton has slowly become a name to watch, he stood tall at the end of the last Smackdown after hitting an RKO out of nowhere to Samoa Joe. Joe has vowed to take down the Rumble and who could argue with that? I don’t see it since Daniel Bryan is essentially a heel and we’ve seen Styles and Joe go at it for the Smackdown championship. Andrade and Rey Mysterio have looked credible after 2 spectacular bouts on Smackdown Live and nothing would make me happier than seeing Andrade get a push. He’s gold in the ring.
All signs to me are pointing to a winner from the RAW side. Drew McIntyre would also be a name that I would be quite happy with. I just don’t see the backstage brass thinking he can go on last vs the champion. If we are going that route, the choice to pick up the W would be either John Cena or Seth Rollins. Cena-Lesnar hasn’t been done in 3 years, it would be a little fresher than what it used to be. I’m going with the Kingslayer Seth Rollins to take this down, eliminating John Cena to win the Rumble. He’s arguably been the MVP of the RAW roster and it’s time for him to get his just due. Lesnar-Rollins at WrestleMania with the torch being passed to Seth freaking Rollins.
Prediction: Rollins eliminates Cena to win
