SmackDown Tag Team Championship: The Bar(c) vs. The Miz & Shane McMahon
Kyle: Let’s just recognize that if The Bar lose, they’re going to need to reevaluate some things. In their tenure as a duo, they’ve already lost the Raw Tag Team Championships to Braun Strowman and Nicholas. And now they could possibly lose their SmackDown Tag Team Championships to the make-shift team of “best” friends, The Miz and Shane McMahon.
In the end, I believe in The Bar and their ability to showcase how a real tag team handles business. Miz and Shane will come up short, leading to a future bout between the two.
Prediction: The Bar by pinfall
Joe: I don’t think this will be a popular pick, but I’m going with Shane McMahon and The Miz. While Sheamus and Cesaro have been one of the best tag teams in the world for years, it’s time for them to drop the SmackDown Tag Team Championships and feud with others on the roster. I also think Shane and Miz are perfect opponents for the Bludgeon Brothers, whenever Harper and Rowan return. This strange, scrappy-dads story between Miz and Shane is oddly compelling, and, well, they really might put the title on Shane’O’Mac…
Prediction: Shane and Miz
Chris: This will probably be more of an angle/spectacle more than it will be an actual match. It will have to be, as even the greatness of Cesaro and Sheamus and Shane McMahon’s willingness to perform insane spots won’t fully cover for McMahon’s punches that either connect too well or don’t connect at all or Miz’s awful kicks. This match will presumably build to a Shane/Miz WrestleMania match, so expect there to be some inadvertent dissension or an outright turn on the Shane/Miz side. Either way, I’m picking The Bar to retain.
Prediction: Cesaro pins The Miz, The Bar retains
Bryan: *sigh* I’ve been sick of “Shane McMahon, WWE Superstar” since I was in high school, and he was going through plate glass windows. Now that he’s “Best in the World,” it seems like he and The Miz are primed for a victory. BUT WAIT: The Miz is a Hollywood A-Lister, and his acting chops can’t be denied. I think he’s going method and stringing poor Shane along for a backstabbing betrayal, with the help of The Bar — who, you’ll remember, were allies of The Miz last spring after the Superstar Shake-Up. IT’S COME FULL CIRCLE.
Prediction: The Bar
Patches: This has been such a weird storyline, and it’s got such awkward beginnings, but somehow it’s still been relentlessly entertaining each week on SmackDown. Based largely on the way The Bar destroyed them on SmackDown Live, my money is on The Miz and Shane McMahon to leave the Rumble as SmackDown Tag Team Champions.
Prediction: The Miz & Shane McMahon by pinfall
Joe Anthony Myrick: As much as I’ve enjoyed these segments between The Miz and Shane McMahon these past few months and as fun as it would be to see ShaMiz (let’s make that tag name a thing) win the gold, I don’t see it happening. I fully feel like all of this Shane/Miz stuff is setting up for a match between these two at WrestleMania where the winner receives full rights over the Best in the World name and trophy. If I’m right, that would mean a title match loss would likely serve as a catalyst for their breakup and feud. In layman’s terms: The Bar will retain
Prediction: The Bar
Jesse: This all intrigues me. The Bar have been here time and time again. In the meantime, Miz and Shane McMahon have provided some entertaining segments since the two men were randomly thrown together.
A lot of signs are pointing to new champions. It’s very likely that Miz and Shane are headed down the path towards a match against one another at WrestleMania. Why not have them steal the titles here, defend them a couple of times and split up in a heated argument immediately following their impending title loss?
Prediction: The Miz and Shane McMahon via pinfall
