WWE Royal Rumble 2019 Predictions: Will It Be Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Or Both?

Women’s Royal Rumble Match
Kyle: The women of the WWE are really putting together some of the more intriguing storylines of late. There’s plenty of strong options in this match and it’s caused me to go back and forth. Charlotte is the clear favorite of superstars already announced for the bout. However, there are so many different outcomes that I would love to see. Naomi or Ember Moon winning to set up a bout with Asuka would be amazing. Bayley shocking the world then facing off against new champion Sasha Banks would be the ultimate surprise. Could Carmella use her #30 slot and prove her greatness once again?
In the end, I think Charlotte survives all the way until the end after starting at #1. I think she ends up in the final two with #30 Carmella and ultimately tosses her from the ring to earn her shot at the WrestleMania main event.
Prediction: Charlotte Flair
Joe: I’m not going to overthink this. Becky Lynch has really changed the game in WWE by rising to the top of the card, generating the loudest reactions, garnering a huge dose of online attention, one-upping John Cena, bringing the SmackDown Women’s Championship to the main event, and selling out Royal Rumble Axxess. You want to keep building her up and position her as Ronda’s toughest opponent yet? Have her win the Rumble. That’s it. No co-winners. She inserts herself into the match, and if you need Charlotte Flair to get in that main event, no problem; WWE already does a good enough job of shoehorning her into big matches (where she always delivers).
Prediction: Becky Lynch
Chris: WWE could go in several directions for this one, depending on how the two Women’s Title matches turn out. They could have Rousey enter, win and challenge Becky Lynch (assuming Lynch beats Asuka and Rousey loses to Sasha Banks). They could have Becky enter, win and challenge Rousey. They could use the Rumble to set up a SmackDown match involving Asuka (Naomi would be the best candidate in that scenario). Ultimately, I think they will set up Rousey vs. Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair in this bout. The easiest way would be to pull a repeat of Bret Hart and Lex Luger from the 1994 Royal Rumble and have both of them tie. That finish gives WWE the easiest route to their desired match, and it plays perfectly into the “Becky thinks everyone is stealing her spotlight” narrative, so that’s the result I’m picking.
Prediction: Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair eliminate each other at the same time resulting in them being named co-winners
Bryan: There’s a lot of potential winners in this match, if you ask me. Ember Moon could take her next step towards becoming the future of the division. Alexa Bliss could make a big splash in her return from injury. Debuting superstars like Nikki Cross or Lacey Evans could even pull off a surprise win. But I keep coming back to Lex Luger and Bret Hart being named co-winners of the 1994 Royal Rumble and both getting their chance at a WrestleMania title shot, and WWE’s love of recreating old moments. Why wouldn’t a WrestleMania main event triple threat match be born out of Royal Rumble controversy? So I am fully on board with Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair being the last two in the match, and simultaneously eliminating each other. LET THE WORLD BURN. PREDICTION:
Prediction: Becky Lynch AND Charlotte Flair
Patches: Much like the men’s Royal Rumble, there are some definite favorites going into this contest. A few specific outcomes are on the tip of everyone’s tongue, and right now those still seem fairly likely. I believe the final four will consist of Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Bayley, and Carmella. With the number thirty spot, Carmella is sure to get close to victory, but I don’t see it happening. This is Becky Lynch’s moment, and she does it by sending Charlotte Flair sailing over the top rope to punch her ticket to WrestleMania.
Prediction: Becky Lynch
Joe Anthony Myrick: Charlotte Flair is my wild card pick considering Becky Lynch is the clear favorite to win. I still think Lynch might make a last minute Rumble match appearance, but I think Charlotte wins. I think Charlotte is going to face Asuka at Mania, and this gives Charlotte a legitimate trajectory towards that after she hasn’t looked too hot in recent months.
Becky can still face Rousey, but I expect more of a long term path to Rousey for Mania rather than just giving her a Rumble win. I can see either woman winning, but I think Flair needs the win more right now. Becky could lose in the Rumble and still be over while Flair risks losing some steam following a string of losses. Charlotte needs the Rumble win more than Becky right now.
Prediction: Charlotte Flair
Jesse: There are more women in this match that have a case to win this than on the men’s side of things. Nia Jax won the RAW women’s championship last year at WrestleMania, Bayley could walk in and steal it as well. Carmella on the Smackdown is being looked at as a more credible threat with improvement in all areas of her game. Plus she is entrant number 30, giving her a decisive advantage over the field.
Alexa Bliss is making her in ring return on the show and she is a multiple time champion. Not to be overlooked are dark horses Sonya Deville, Naomi and Nikki Cross. Based on her NXT body of work, she most certainly could shock the World and take on a champion of her choosing. Ember Moon is another name that could rise up and takedown the match as well.
The conventional and safe choice here is the one I’m going to make, Charlotte Flair. It’s hard to deny a 7 time champion in a match like this, even if she hasn’t been in the Women’s rumble before. If the WWE want the Women to main event the big show this year, we could see a triple threat between Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch and Charlotte. There is no denying that a match of that magnitude could and would steal the show. I’m going with the Queen Charlotte Flair to eliminate Alexa Bliss in the grand finale.
Prediction: Charlotte eliminates Bliss to win
