WWE SmackDown Results, Highlights, And Grades For January 29, 2019
The Man Starts Us Off Again
Becky Lynch should start every episode of WWE SmackDown forever. Also, the signs and pop for Becky were on point…as was her continued selling of a leg injury sustained at the Royal Rumble Pay Per View. (There were also some “Happy Birthday, Becky!” signs in Phoenix, as her birthday is tomorrow.)
Last night on Raw, Becky confronted Ronda Rousey and informed the Raw Women’s Champion that she’d challenge her at WrestleMania 35 in what should be the most highly-anticipated match of 2019.
The Man takes a huge shot at Ronda, stating that unlike the Raw Women’s Champion, she doesn’t crumble when she loses. She reminds the WWE Universe that while she did lose to Asuka to start the show, she won the Women’s Rumble on one leg.
Lynch says that she’s proud of coming from nothing and from working her way from last year’s pre-show to this year’s main event. Preach!
She stared into the camera and stated that she saw something in Ronda’s eyes that doesn’t exist inside her anymore: doubt. Becky says she will break Ronda’s arm for the world to see, and if Ronda doesn’t believe it, she’ll be carried out of WrestleMania knowing it.

On cue, Charlotte Flair’s music hits. Charlotte would have been the last woman standing in the Royal Rumble if it weren’t for Becky checking into the match for an injured Lana. Flair, after all, was on a tear, leading all women with four eliminations.
Charlotte slow-claps for Becky and gives her all the sarcastic congratulations a single human being could muster.
The Queen takes a page out of The Miz’s playbook, taking credit for Becky’s success, stating that T he Man basically went to the top because of her. Totally unamused, Becky socked her in the neck, leaving Charlotte seething as she tasted the blood in her mouth.
But Charlotte charged after Becky from behind, and the two brawled on the ramp. Charlotte smashed Becky into the barricade, aggravating her injured knee. WWE officials tried to pull Flair off of Lynch as the crowd chanted “Let Them Fight!”
Becky went right back after Charlotte, and if it weren’t for her knee injury, officials wouldn’t have been able to restore order.
Grade: A-, Awesome way to kick off SmackDown Live. Brawls between Becky and Charlotte never get old, and Becky delivered some more gems on the mic. Oh, and sarcasm is Charlotte’s best character trait.
