Charlotte Flair

Back-to-back WrestleMania matches don’t always go over well, but Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair was so good the first time that a rematch between two of the most consistently great in-ring performers in WWE can’t be a bad thing.

I’ve seen fans speculate that Asuka vs. Charlotte II could make sense at WWE WrestleMania 35, especially since many of those same fans don’t want to see Flair “shoehorned” into another Becky Lynch match to make it a Triple Threat. While for many fans, there’s nothing inherently wrong with a Charlotte vs. Becky vs. Ronda Triple Threat at ‘Mania, others would prefer to see Becky and Ronda settle their differences definitively in a one-on-one match.

If WWE decides to go that route, Charlotte vs. Asuka is a possible option. It gives Charlotte a chance to have another great match on the big stage, and it also gives Asuka a chance to show that she can beat “The Queen” in a one-on-one title match. (They had a non-title match before TLC that finished in a well-done disqualification.)

The Empress, of course, defeated both Becky and Charlotte at TLC, thanks to Ronda’s interference, before submitting Lynch one-on-one at the Rumble; Charlotte is the last of the Four Horsewomen she needs to beat, and a win over Charlotte could lead her to a big match against Rousey of her own. Plus, with rumors that FOX wants Rousey as part of a sports-centric show, building up to Asuka vs. Rousey at a big Pay Per View in 2019 or 2020 could be wise.

Of course, a Charlotte vs. Asuka rematch at WrestleMania isn’t likely. WWE seems interested in booking Charlotte vs. Becky vs. Ronda, even though Charlotte and Asuka are on the same brand and still have their differences.
