WWE: 5 Possible Dream Matches For Kushida In NXT
By Laura Mauro
3. Kushida vs Aleister Black
If making his debut against a relative newcomer doesn’t feel quite right, why shouldn’t Kushida take on a more veteran talent? Aleister Black has proven time and time again that he can deliver the goods, and though he’s taken on Kushida before – back in his previous life as Tommy End – he’s never taken him on in singles competition.
Black may lack Kushida’s MMA acumen, but don’t write him off in a mat-based competition: he’s held gold at Germany’s Catch Wrestling Norddeutschland, and his Pencak Silat background should see him stand up to whatever Kushida can throw at him.
Throw two highly talented men with differing hybrid wrestling styles into the ring and watch them go. With plenty of aerial skill between them, a fast-paced, high-impact match is almost a certainty; if watching Black kick Gargano out of the air was exciting and unpredictable, imagine what these two can do with a little mutual scouting of styles.
It’s hard to tell when exactly Aleister Black will make the jump to the main roster (hopefully never…) but if he has to go, then seeing him out in style is his due. He’s suffered under the shadow of Gargano and Ciampa, and a reminder of just how good he is when allowed to shine seems only fair.
If the post-WrestleMania call of the main roster comes at last for Black, then a final match on the Sami Zayn/Shinsuke Nakamura scale would be the perfect way to see him off, and Kushida is eminently up to the task.
