WWE Raw: It Feels Like The Revival Will Finally Win The Tag Titles

On this week’s episode of WWE Raw, The Revival won a Fatal Four-Way to earn yet another opportunity at Chad Gable and Bobby Roode’s Raw Tag Team Championships. But will one of the best tag teams in the world finally win main roster gold?

Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder have been recognized as one of the best tag teams in all of wrestling over the past few years, putting on classic after classic in NXT. But since being called up to WWE Raw, The Revival haven’t quite found their place at the top of the roster.

They’ve recovered from some tough moments, such as an infamous segment with DX on the 25th anniversary of Raw, but fans still haven’t gotten a chance to see one of their favorite tag teams grab the Raw Tag Team Championships.

The Revival have had their chances, too, reasoning that their losses to Chad Gable and Bobby Roode, the current Raw Tag Team Champions, have been the result of a conspiracy. However, after defeating their nemesis in the Lucha House Party, the forgotten B-Team, and the incoming Heavy Machinery in a Fatal Four-Way match, Dawson and Wilder declared that the conspiracy is finished.

Wilder and Dawson now have another opportunity at Gable and Roode’s Raw Tag Team Championships following this victory, and after multiple controversial losses, The Revival are just waiting for their first taste of gold on the WWE main roster.

BodySlam.net’s Cassidy Haynes, Fightful.com’s Sean Ross Sapp, and Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin have all reported on The Revival’s possible departure from WWE. The duo, per Fightful, is signed with WWE until April 2020, making their reported release request all the more interesting. With All Elite Wrestling established, fans have been buzzing about Dawson and Wilder potentially facing The Young Bucks in AEW (among other possible scenarios).

But for now, The Revival are with WWE and seem destined for a fifth title match against Gable and Roode. None of their previous title matches have occurred on Pay Per View, as the Raw Tag Team Championships have sunk in prestige since the Superstar Shakeup gave SmackDown Live the most enviable tag division in all the land.

Still, The Revival are so good that they can be the centerpieces of a division that includes the Authors of Pain as a potential powerhouse. A recent tweet from Tom Colohue indicates that Dawson and Wilder are poised to defeat Gable and Roode for the championships, but the win was always planned; Colohue tweets that it isn’t only to appease them after they requested their releases to presumably join AEW this year.

That said, a run with the tag titles and a chance to elevate a frustratingly neglected Raw Tag Team Division, which recently added the nostalgia-conjuring tandem of Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins, couldn’t hurt WWE’s case when it comes to preventing The Revival from signing on elsewhere.

All the signs are pointing to The Revival finally winning the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships, but we’ve seen this story play out before with Dawson and Wilder somehow coming up short. This “conspiracy” seems ready to end, though, and it will be interesting to see if that happens on Raw before the Elimination Chamber or at some point later.

A Pay Per View win for The Revival would do wonders and would give their long climb to the titles an emphatic exclamation mark, but that may be asking for too much on a show that will be loaded to the gills with matches that hold WrestleMania 35 implications.
