Kenny Omega Officially Joins AEW
As expected, Kenny Omega made his appearance at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, and he already has a program set for the promotion’s first show on May 25. Omega’s celebratory announcement was promptly interrupted by Chris Jericho, his opponent at Wrestle Kingdom 12. Jericho, of course, attacked Omega at “All In” after Omega’s amazing match against Pentagon Jr.; there’s so much bad blood between these two men, so it only makes sense for them to settle their differences in a big way at Double or Nothing.
Not every fan will be excited to see another match between Omega and Jericho, but they did deliver in NJPW. More importantly for AEW, they are two huge names in the wrestling business and can help get more attention to a card that will include Rae vs. Rose, Lucha Bros vs. The Bucks, and an epic battle between Pac and Hangman Page.
Omega’s official signing with AEW puts to rest all the random chit-chat about him potentially joining WWE. He already announced his departure from NJPW, and the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion was simply never going to leave his closest friends. Omega believes that AEW can change the wrestling business for the better, and this is his chance to make that sort of a huge impact on the industry on his own terms.
