Kofi Kingston

Although Kofi Kingston has become one of the most prolific tag team wrestlers in history with his work on The New Day – and he was great years ago in tag teams with wrestlers like Evan Bourne/Matt Sydal – he’s always been capable of winning a world championship. His friends and teammates, Big E and Xavier Woods, regularly go out of their way to praise Kingston as someone deserving of a world title.

While it seems like WWE will, unfortunately, avoid giving Kofi a fair shot at the WWE Championship or the Universal Title, they should at least give Kingston a kayfabe opportunity at the Elimination Chamber.

Though The New Day are one of WWE’s most important acts, they won’t have a match at WWE Elimination Chamber, as The Usos are set to take on Shane McMahon and The Miz for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships.

That leaves any of the three members of The New Day with an opening to compete inside the Elimination Chamber. Although it would be awesome to see Xavier or E in that match, Kofi has previous EC experience and has the agility to help steal the show in the match. Out of all three members of The New Day, he’s the best bet to replace the high-flying, X-Factor that Ali brings to the table. Though, admittedly, Woods would be the better underdog.

Showcasing Kofi, who was once a great mid-card champion for WWE, in big matches like this would be wise. It would remind audiences of how amazing Kingston is in the ring on his own, and it would boost both The New Day’s credibility and the tag team division’s credibility; the latter has become a topic of contention lately.
