Alexander Hammerstone vs Ariel Dominguez
Keeping with the theme of entrances for the night, Hammerstone delivered a picture-in-picture promo as he entered. He made the claim that MLW had never seen anyone quite like Alexander Hammerstone.
Dominguez has been featured fairly regularly on Fusion and has always been a solid hand in making someone look good. That was exactly his purpose here. The size differential between Dominguez and Hammerstone was a great visual in Hammerstone’s favor.
Hammerstone is listed at 6’3″ which isn’t massive, but next to the smaller frame of the 5’8″ Dominguez he looked like an absolute beast.
Ariel got a small bit of offense in throughout the match, but this match had one sole purpose – make Hammerstone look good. As Dominguez looked to hit a springboard move on his larger opponent, he was caught with a forearm before falling to Hammerstone’s Nightmare Pendulum finisher to send things home.
How Was It? It perfectly served its purpose in giving Hammerstone a strong debut. In his pre-match promo, Hammerstone mentioned that Major League Wrestling hadn’t seen anyone like him before. You know what? He may be right.
MLW has had its share of large wrestlers, but I don’t know that we’ve seen anyone in recent memory who is as much of a hulking brute. Hammerstone played to the crowd well and built to a decisive victory in his Fusion debut. This was an excellent showcase for another new face on the roster.
Ol Mancer Is Coming
Mance Warner delivered a promo in front of a shiny and brand new looking semi-truck which he had rented for the weekend. In front of the truck was parked a beater of a car which Warner claimed was his and he would be back to claim later.
He ran through his list of nicknames, making sure to mention that he is The Eye Poke God twice, before exiting to drink some more light beers.
How Was It? I… I think I loved it? I have no idea what he said and what half of his nicknames and catch phrases meant. He rattled them off with machine gun speed but he could have just as easily been listing names out of the phone book and I would have been entertained.
I don’t know much about Ol Mancer, but he hooked me in with this quick promo and now I’m looking even more forward to his MLW debut.
