WWE: The 10 Best Superstars To Never Win A Title In NXT
By Bryan Heaton
10. Tyler Breeze
Longtime fans of NXT will remember this, but Tyler Breeze was one of the first cult heroes to come out of the Full Sail environment. Formerly known as Mike Dalton, Prince Pretty had been a mainstay in FCW, and in the early days of the rebranded NXT he still competed under the Dalton name. However, in the summer of 2013, he adopted his new gimmick, and fans immediately took to the male model persona.
But here’s the thing: Breeze was more than just a super-gorgeous face masquerading as a wrestler. He could tear it up in the ring — still can, as evidenced by his recent pop-in to Full Sail to take on Ricochet. Since his time on Raw and SmackDown Live has been spent mainly as comedy relief, it’s easy to forget just how good Breeze actually is.
In the early days of the WWE Network, Breeze was a mainstay in the NXT Championship picture. He was part of a three-way tie in a battle royal to determine a number one contender, along with Tyson Kidd and Sami Zayn, in May 2014. At the first TakeOver a few weeks later, Breeze defeated Zayn to earn a title match.
Besides facing then-champion Adrian Neville in August, Breeze would be one of four participants in the main event of TakeOver: Fatal 4-Way, along with Neville, Kidd, and Zayn. The four even got to hype that match on a September 2014 episode of Raw. And who can forget Breeze being the challenger for Jushin “Thunder” Liger at TakeOver: Brooklyn?
To sum up, if you only know Breeze as the master of disguise from Fashion Files, you need to dive into NXT’s back catalogue. Hopefully once Fandango is healed up, he and Breeze can make a serious run at some championships in WWE.
