Mance Warner vs Jimmy Yuta

Before the match, Kaci Lennox caught up with Ol Mancer who explained his four-point plan to victory:

  1. Light beer
  2. Eye pokes
  3. Knee pad up, knee pad down
  4. Lariat

He explained that he had already consumed a number of light beers and would be back to down some more of his favorite beverage after his MLW debut.

Yuta and Warner had a bit of a rocky start with Warner’s offense not always connecting fully with Yuta, or the two simply not meeting on the same page as they felt one another out.

The action spilled outside where Mancer was able to utilize one of his key points to victory by delivering not one but two eye pokes to Yuta on the arena floor! Do eye pokes hurt more when done outside of the ring than they do inside? Maybe we can get some kind of informal case study going.

Yuta fought back briefly against Ol Mancer including a suicide dive sending the Southern Psycho into the steel railing on the arena floor, but just as he began to build momentum he got caught with a headbutt out of nowhere.

From here, Warner enacted steps three and four of his master plan by delivering an unprotected running knee to the head before taking Yuta down with a lariat for the victory.

How was it? A bit of a disappointing debut for Ol Mancer. His promos have been fun leading up to the match and I’m very much into his Bunkhouse Buck X Chainsaw Charlie aesthetic, but he and Yuta never really seemed to connect here.

Some of Warner’s offense didn’t quite hit with as much impact as it could, or should, have. His lariat to win the match didn’t look entirely impressive especially when compared to other lariats from wrestling’s past. That being said, I am intrigued by Mancer due to his character work and I want to see more.
