After revealing on WWE Raw that his leukemia has gone back into remission and he is returning to WWE, Roman Reigns went on ABC’s Good Morning America today to talk more about his battle with cancer and the ways that children battling pediatric cancer helped inspire him.

Fans are still reeling from hearing the emotional news delivered by Roman Reigns that his cancer is in remission and seeing him back in the ring, but he got even more personal about things today as he spoke to Robin Roberts of ABC‘s Good Morning America. Reigns talked about the nervousness he felt before delivering his speech last night, despite the fact that he’s not someone who often gets nervous.

“I’m fine right now, main event of WrestleMania, all good. But last night, I think because it was just so close to the vest, that it just really—the perfectionist came out and the OCD came out, but everybody was so great,” Roman said about speaking to the crowd in Atlanta.

One of the most heartwarming things about watching the response both to Roman’s announcement in October and the positive update last night has been the universal love from the crowd. While Roman has received mixed reactions from fans throughout his career, there’s been nothing mixed about the way fans have supported him since announcing his diagnosis in October.

“The love through this whole process,” Roman explained. “The support is what was really overwhelming. To be able to feel that from the whole world. From everybody. All the prayers, all the blessings. It was a blessing.”

That love and support carried over into last night’s Atlanta crowd, which Roman said was “so gentle with me and just so gracious.” Not only did Roman receive cheers and support from the crowd, but even his appearance later in the night to save an old friend from an attack garnered some of his loudest positive reactions of all time.

Roman Reigns delivered his signature Superman Punch three times and bellowed out an “ooahh” along with the raucous Atlanta fans before spearing Drew McIntyre, the first time we’ve seen such moves from Roman Reigns in over four months. It was the cherry on top of an already emotionally charged return for The Big Dog, and reinforced how happy fans were to see him back in a WWE ring.

More from WWE

Some fans may eventually go back to booing Roman Reigns, but the respect and support shown as he fought leukemia once again and returned to WWE has transcended any of those previous negative reactions. While we don’t yet know when his first match back in a WWE ring will happen, there’s no denying that Roman Reigns is officially back as a part of the WWE.

While on Good Morning America, he also talked about what he hopes to do moving forward and how his presence in a WWE ring sends a positive message about fighting cancer.

“I have the opportunity to do as you do,” he started while speaking to Robin Roberts. “To create awareness. Just like this, ABC Good Morning America. I have a huge platform within the WWE. We’re a global brand. We’re all over the world. I think every night that I’m able to step in that ring, it’s a symbol of hope. A symbol of awareness. We’re not just gonna talk about it. We’re in the process of creating funds and foundations to help. We wanna make people aware, but we also wanna roll our sleeves up and get our hands dirty and make some moves.”
