WWE: Ranking The New Day’s Top 10 Matches
1. vs. Cesaro & Sheamus – Roadblock 2016
As they say, all good things must come to an end. Not only in relation to this list, but in relation to The New Day’s historic 483-day reign as WWE Tag Team Champions. The reign had its ups and downs, but more than anything else, it was a reign that etched New Day in the history books as one of the greatest tag teams in WWE history.
After such a long and successful reign as The New Day, it is necessary for a team that looks just as big, bad and credible enough to not only step up as worthy challengers, but be believable enough to take the titles off of the champions. Enter The Bar. Well, Pre-Bar, technically, back when Sheamus and Cesaro were merely just a dysfunctional tag team.
The Bar and The New Day have squared off a countless number of times with each other, but this was arguably their best contest yet. From the very start, their match at Roadblock was littered with fast paced action with neither team letting a second breath between moves, as well as electric tag team tandem offense. Each team delivered the best they had to offer to put a worthy cap on New Day’s reign.
In one of the more clever finishes to any tag team match in recent memory, Cesaro faked a tag to Sheamus and sacrificed himself for the team. Kofi unknowingly pinned the wrong man, leaving himself wide open for a victory roll-up from Sheamus for the title switch. Twas a surprisingly unpredictable ending to an unpredictable tag team’s title reign.
