WWE: Ranking The New Day’s Top 10 Matches
9. vs. The Shield – Survivor Series 2017
Much of the brand war of 2017 between Raw and SmackDown was defined by interactions between The New Day and The Shield. On paper by itself, a match between two of the greatest factions to ever step foot in the WWE is guaranteed to be a clinical masterpiece. However, WWE decided to add some more salt to the stakes of their match by placing their feud at the center of the SmackDown vs Raw feud heading into Survivor Series.
In the weeks that led to the big show, both groups led mutinies invading the other brand attacking the other brand. It all started when New Day led one into Raw. Shortly afterwards, they would do so again, only this time only the trio themselves would arrive to the red brand to cost Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose their Tag Team Title match against The Bar. In return, The Shield would show up to the go-home edition of SmackDown Live to lay out The New Day and the rest of the SmackDown roster. Now, things were personal.
The story leading up to the match made the match itself quite the barn burner. At the start, it was something of a slow build; a feeling out process between two teams of wrestlers who have either never wrestled each other or haven’t done so in ages. Then, before we knew it, all hell broke loose.
