3. Seth Rollins vs. Shelton Benjamin

Arguably the biggest match of Seth Rollins’ career is just under four weeks away when he competes against Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship on the grandest stage of them all.  However, in the meantime, The Architect’s plate is hardly empty as was evident last night.

After a successful Shield reunion was capped off with a win at Fastlane and a farewell address last night, Rollins would end up taking place in an impromptu match with the unexpected Monday night arrival of Shelton Benjamin.  This was set up by Lesnar’s advocate Paul Heyman, who wanted Benjamin to wear down The Architect only a few weeks away from WrestleMania 35.

This was probably the first time these two have ever faced each other and as expected, it was a solid encounter.  Benjamin did his part by grounding Rollins at times, but the pace would ultimately end up in Rollins’ favor at the end.  Heyman was on commentary during this match and he was hoping for a Benjamin win, but The Architect wouldn’t have any of it.

One stomp was enough for Rollins to get past Benjamin and pick up the key win.  With The Shield apparently in the rearview mirror, this was an important match for Rollins with the focus now shifted on his huge opportunity to dethrone The Beast Incarnate at WrestleMania 35.  And with Lesnar scheduled to be on Raw next week, expect more fireworks with the granddaddy of them all getting closer.

The Architect vs. The Gold Standard didn’t get an abundance of time, but these two tremendous athletes still put forth a good match.
