WWE SmackDown Live Results, Highlights, and Grades for March 12, 2019
The fallout from WWE Fastlane continues tonight on WWE SmackDown Live, but we’re also in full swing for the Road to WrestleMania 35. With two big matches announced and important words from McMahons to look forward to, SmackDown Live is must-see tonight.
WWE SmackDown Live comes to the Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio tonight and it’s a fitting next step considering what we saw happen at WWE Fastlane. Two nights ago in Cleveland, Shane McMahon turned on tag team partner and hometown boy The Miz with a vicious attack that even turned to Shane threatening The Miz’s dad, Mr. Miz.
After refusing to comment on his actions at WWE Fastlane when approached backstage, we’ll finally hear from Shane McMahon tonight on WWE SmackDown to see why he chose to brutalize The Miz in his hometown with his father at ringside. However, that’s not the only McMahon we’ll be hearing from tonight.
Perhaps no one had a worse night at WWE Fastlane than Kofi Kingston. He was already struggling coming into the night after having been removed from his WWE Championship Match against Daniel Bryan by Mr. McMahon. Kingston’s night started with optimism as he was summoned to the McMahon Family’s office about the WWE Championship match.

When he did finally speak to Vince McMahon, he was informed the WWE Championship match would be a triple threat and to head to the ring for his match. Upon arrival, a bait-and-switch took place and the ring announcer stated the WWE Championship match wouldn’t happen until later in the night before revealing The Bar who faced Kofi Kingston in a 2-on-1 handicap match.
Kofi Kingston certainly tried his hardest to fight the odds, but The Bar began a systematic destruction of Kingston that he was eventually powerless to resist. The rest of The New Day tried to save him, only to be attacked at ringside by Shinsuke Nakamura and Rusev. After all of this chaos, Mr. McMahon will be addressing Kofi Kingston tonight on SmackDown Live.
It’ll be interesting to see Mr. McMahon’s explanation or justification for his actions, but even more exciting is seeing how Kofi Kingston responds. He’s been the consummate professional through his recent obstacles, but Kofi Kingston may finally hit his breaking point tonight and unleash about how he really feels.
Finally we’ve got two big matches confirmed for WWE SmackDown Live. Samoa Joe will defend his United States Championship against former champion R-Truth in a one-on-one match. Truth got another shot at WWE Fastlane, but how has a chance to regain his belt without two other superstars in the mix. We’ll also see The Hardys team with Aleister Black & Ricochet to take on The Bar, Rusev, and Shinsuke Nakamura.
WWE SmackDown Live airs live on the USA Network at 8 p.m. ET. Check back here for live results, highlights, and grades as the show happens.
