WWE SmackDown Live Results, Highlights, and Grades for March 12, 2019
Becky Lynch is interrupted by Charlotte Flair
Up next on WWE SmackDown, we heard from “The Man” Becky Lynch. At WWE Fastlane, the interference by Ronda Rousey helped Lynch win her match by disqualification and made the triple threat between them and Charlotte Flair official for WrestleMania.
The Man was in great form on the microphone as always, tearing into both Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair at every turn. Unsurprisingly, The Queen eventually interrupted to get in some jabs of her own.
Charlotte talked about having held down the division for four straight years, but Becky Lynch claimed she did more for the women’s division in six months than Flair did in those four years. There wasn’t really anything new here, but the tensions got even higher as WrestleMania 35 nears.
Grade: B+, This segment didn’t break any new ground, but it was still great stuff from The Man and The Queen. The main event of WrestleMania 35 is looking very epic.
Backstage on WWE SmackDown, Kayla Braxton approached the office of The McMahon Family in hopes of getting some information about Vince McMahon’s eventual message tonight to Kofi Kingston. As she got to the office, WWE Champion Daniel Bryan and Rowan were leaving it.
Bryan initially refused to say what he’d spoken to Vince McMahon about, but after some pressing by Braxton he admitted he wanted to give Mr. McMahon his opinion of Kofi Kingston prior to the announcement from Vince. In response to that, Mr. McMahon made a tag team match for later on WWE SmackDown where Daniel Bryan would team with Rowan to face Kevin Owens and Mustafa Ali. Bryan didn’t exactly look thrilled about that news.
Grade: B+, Another good short moment that advanced a storyline without having to do anything too complicated.
Rey Mysterio & R-Truth vs. Samoa Joe & Andrade
While WWE SmackDown was initially advertised to have a United States Championship match where Samoa Joe would defend against former champion R-Truth, apparently those plans changed and we got a tag team match involving the participants from the United States Championship Fatal 4-Way match at WWE Fastlane.
The match itself was good, but felt a bit redundant as we’ve seen these four men in the same ring twice already in just the last week. R-Truth continued his homage to John Cena, Andrade and Rey Mysterio’s issues stayed on the surface, and Samoa Joe was as angry as ever.
As the action picked up, it was actually Rey Mysterio who got the upper hand this time and rolled up Samoa Joe for a quick pinfall. The United States Champion was irate after the match, delivering a devastating uranage to both R-Truth and his own partner Andrade in response to the loss. Apparently nothing has been solved here, so only time will tell what’s next for the United States Championship.
Grade: B-, If we hadn’t seen nearly this exact match twice in the last week, this would’ve been graded higher. The match was fine and the win by Mysterio adds a wrinkle to things moving forward, but it still felt very much like a repeat from last week and Fastlane.

Daniel Bryan & Rowan vs. Kevin Owens & Mustafa Ali
In a continuation of the WWE Championship Triple Threat Match at WWE Fastlane, WWE SmackDown saw Daniel Bryan and Rowan face the team of Kevin Owens and Mustafa Ali. You could see the frustration on the faces of both Ali and Owens, still feeling their hard-fought loss at WWE Fastlane and the pressure of a crowd that only wanted Kofi Kingston.
Once Rowan made his way into the match, we got to see his power on display perhaps the most since his return to the main roster. Rowan tore into Mustafa Ali without much effort, keeping control as he tagged in Daniel Bryan and we saw the WWE Champion go after Ali.
After a commercial break, the action was still going fast and furious between these four superstars. Mustafa Ali found himself alone against Daniel Bryan and Rowan near the end, and Rowan finished him off with The Iron Claw to pick up an elementary pinfall and a tag team victory.
Grade: B, A solid match between these four that felt like an epilogue on their triple threat at WWE Fastlane. Mustafa Ali fought hard, but took a very clean loss to Rowan that effectively takes him out of the title picture right now.
