4. Bayley vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Nia Jax vs. Sasha Banks: WrestleMania 33

It was only one year earlier at the time of WrestleMania 33 that the women’s evolution reached a major plateau when the Diva’s Championship turned into the Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 32.

By WrestleMania 33, however, there were two separate women’s titles in the WWE.

The initial brand split in the summer of 2016 following WrestleMania 32 led to the creation of the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championships.

The turn of 2017 was just what the doctor ordered for Bayley, who was the reigning Raw Women’s Champion heading into WrestleMania 33.  However, she would meet her biggest challenge to date when she defended her title against three other challengers.

Bayley defended the title against former champion Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, and Nia Jax in a Fatal 4-Way where it seemed a bit unlikely that Bayley would walk away with the title still in hand.  The match went back and forth to the point where nobody knew who was going to emerge victorious.

However, a big finish proved to be the difference in the match.

A diving elbow drop to Charlotte was all Bayley needed to win the match and retain her Raw Women’s Championship after a stellar battle.

Although Bayley would go through many creative struggles in 2017, she had a great moment at WrestleMania 33 in which she successfully retained her championship on the grandest stage of them all.

This should be considered one of the best women’s matches in WrestleMania history, and a real high point in the career of Bayley.
