Randy Orton

“Stupid, stupid, stupid”.

The infamous words that allegedly ended Kofi Kingston’s push a decade ago came from Randy Orton after an attempt at an RKO finish ended in a brutal Punt Kick.

WWE have referenced the rumors of Orton previously being a roadblock to singles stardom in Kingston’s career several times during this story arch, but there wouldn’t be a stronger way to achieve this than by having Orton be the literal “End Boss” for Kofi in this final Gauntlet Match before WrestleMania 35.

Orton would be the final roadblock to Kofi achieving his dream of getting a singles match for the world title – at WrestleMania no less – and the added bonus here is that The Viper has become SmackDown’s ultimate heel. He’s callous, twisted, and evil-minded in every way. Orton attempted to end Jeff Hardy’s career and has repeatedly aired his grievances towards the WWE Universe, taking out his anger at the fans on the superstars they love the most.

No male superstar on SmackDown is as loved as Kofi right now, and that’s what would make the dynamic in this final match of the Gauntlet so special. The crowd would be willing a battered Kofi to win in the final stages after taking out four great wrestlers, while Orton would feed off of the WWE Universe’s energy with hatred, seeking nothing more than to cripple Kofi in the latter’s quest to finally win the WWE Championship he’s earned.

Bryan, who is now going around calling Kingston a B-plus player after becoming who he once fought against, is the final opponent for Kofi. But the history between Orton and Kofi might make these 10-15 minutes among the most special of this year in wrestling.
