Tony Nese can have some awesome title feuds

Cedric Alexander and Tony Nese went to battle on Mar. 19 and didn’t disappoint in the finals, sending Indianapolis into a frenzy as the crowd serenaded the two superstars with “This is awesome!” chants. Nese and Alexander have had their battles, but a full-fledged title feud between these two athletic, creative, technically-proficient, and well-respected superstars could be something special and go down as an important feud in 205 history.

The same could be said for a rivalry between Drew Gulak and Tony Nese, as those two faced off in the semifinals of the tournament that brought Nese his WWE WrestleMania 35 title opportunity. These two superstars have even more history together, considering their role in the ‘Zo Train – and how poorly Gulak treated Nese as a colleague.

Their differing ideologies and impressive in-ring work could lead to a technical clinic and a rivalry that features some fantastic promos. Gulak has been one of WWE’s best talkers for years, whereas Nese has become a great promo in his own right, largely because WWE have no longer saddled him with a dry archetype of a gimmick. Nese has become a nuanced character worth cheering, and his responses to Gulak’s pointed promos would be fun to watch.

Nese has shown that he can have strong matches with anyone and partake in investable feuds, and that would make his title reign a welcome one for a 205 Live brand that needs to keep gaining ground in 2019.
