The Kurt Angle Farewell Tour Continues

We then got the next chapter in the Kurt Angle Farewell Tour on WWE Raw and the continuation of a bitter rivalry that’s never seen the light of day within WWE. All the way back in 2006, Kurt Angle made the monumental and shocking jump to TNA Wrestling (now Impact Wrestling). He went right after Samoa Joe, then TNA World Champion, and delivered the headbutt heard ’round the world in their first confrontation. Here’s a reminder.

Tonight, a very different Kurt Angle went up against a very different Samoa Joe, and the United States Champion wasn’t interested in being sentimental. Instead, Joe promised to put Angle to sleep in their final bout. The bell sounded, and Samoa Joe hit Angle immediately with a stiff headbutt very reminiscent of that fateful confrontation years ago.

What followed was another fantastic match on the Kurt Angle Farewell Tour. Samoa Joe was all out, and looking to put everything on the line to topple Angle before he leaves WWE. He delivered as much punishment as possible, but Kurt Angle kept fighting.

Things looked close to over for the legendary Kurt Angle as Samoa Joe tried to finish him off with the Coquina Clutch, but Angle fought out of it. After some back and forth, he managed to roll Samoa Joe into a sudden pinning predicament with a perfectly timed three count to escape tonight’s match with a victory over his longtime rival.

Grade: A+, The Kurt Angle Farewell Tour has been really fantastic, and this was the best part of it so far. Not only did Angle and Joe put on a great match that had some perfect nods to their history, but Angle’s sudden win and Joe’s frustration afterwards showed Angle’s skill and Joe’s cockiness causing that outcome.
