2. Kofi Kingston

It feels a bit like deja vu heading into WrestleMania 35 regarding the WWE Championship picture.  Daniel Bryan’s meteoric rise to the top of the WWE back in 2014 culminated with him winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 30.

Now heading into this year’s version of the show of shows, an even more unlikely superstar is in a similar position.  Kofi Kingston has been on a rise the likes of which the WWE hasn’t seen in a long time over the past couple of months or so.  The elder statesman of The New Day joined the conversation as unexpectedly as humanly possible, but now with only days until WrestleMania 35, he is arguably the talk of the proverbial town.

Kofi has gone through the wringer to finally earn a WWE Championship match at WrestleMania 35 against The New Daniel Bryan.  He is viewed as a B-plus player by Mr. McMahon, but the boss finally gave Kofi his due after screwing him over for weeks thanks to his fellow New Day members Xavier Woods and Big E winning a tag team gauntlet match this past week on SmackDown.  This will undoubtedly be the biggest moment of Kofi’s 11-year WWE career.

And with that big of an opportunity, it’s time for Kofi to finally reach the top of the mountain and capture the WWE Championship.  He has been put in a storyline involving the chairman of the WWE, so he’s already viewed as a serious threat in this angle.  And it would be very fitting that his big break comes at the expense of The New Daniel Bryan, given the similarities between each man’s rise towards their respective WrestleMania opportunities.

It’s only right that Kofi finally gets his moment in the sun at WrestleMania 35 after waiting patiently for so long.
