Ali

After how easily Samoa Joe disposed of Ali on the most recent episode of SmackDown Live, it might be hard to believe Ali as a legitimate challenger to Joe’s throne, especially at WWE WrestleMania 35. It’s honestly a shame how quickly Ali lost, but that may have been in order to make sure Joe was built up properly for ‘Mania and that enough time would be devoted to the other segments on the show.

Still, Ali could be a cool replacement option for Mysterio, if the latter can’t wrestle at MetLife. Ali’s own injuries caused him to be replaced in a big spot, and it really did seem like it was all part of a divine plan for Kofi Kingston to win the WWE Championship. Likewise, it would be quite a story if Ali replaced an injured Mysterio and won his first title in WWE at WrestleMania.

Ali has been one of WWE’s brightest stars since joining the Blue Brand in mid-December as part of a program with WWE Champion Daniel Bryan. He’s always been one of the best babyfaces, sellers, athletes, and promos in the company; everything Ali does is genuine. There are few wrestlers who have the audience’s respect quite like Ali, who impressed many fans with his poise in a tough spot at Fastlane.

Joe has used Ali to make a statement several times in the past few months, including before the Royal Rumble. At the Rumble, Ali got his revenge by eliminating Joe in an impressive performance that flew under the radar, and perhaps he could do the same at WrestleMania as a replacement after losing to Joe on SmackDown Live.
