Kurt Angle vs. Baron Corbin in Angle’s ‘Farewell’ Match

There’s no doubt that Kurt Angle is one of the most decorated athletes in wrestling history. His amateur wrestling background as an Olympic gold medalist is unquestioned, his work in TNA speaks for itself, and he’s a WWE Hall of Famer after providing fans with countless classics and even more memorable backstage moments. Angle has the rare trait of being both hilarious and series, flipping between both seamlessly as a performer who isn’t afraid to be vulnerable – or make himself look foolish – for the crowd’s benefit.

Angle’s final match in WWE will take place at WWE WrestleMania 35 against Baron Corbin – a man who has made his life a living hell over the past several months. Corbin even beat Angle in a power struggle as Raw’s authority figure, but Corbin’s reign of terror came back to bite him as he received his comeuppance at TLC.

When Corbin was announced as Angle’s final opponent, the WWE Universe in Chicago chanted for John Cena, underwhelmed by “The Lone Wolf” as Angle’s adversary. Some fans still think the match could change, with Cena currently not announced for a role at WrestleMania, but, for now, Corbin vs. Angle is official and doesn’t seem destined to change.

Corbin seems like a near-lock to win, even though he’s failed a Money in the Bank cash-in at Cena’s expense. Could Cena come to rescue the man he debuted against and embarrass Corbin once more? Or will Corbin get the rub of retiring a legend? Let’s just say the latter is far more likely here.

Prediction: Baron Corbin
