The Miz vs. Shane McMahon, Falls Count Anywhere

Wrestling fans who doubted The Miz’s ability to play a babyface – or his ability to sell us on a feud against Shane McMahon at WrestleMania – were once again proven wrong by a man who really might be WWE’s true underdog.

Since Sunday is Kurt Angle’s final match in WWE, The Miz vs. Shane McMahon in a Falls Count Anywhere match reminds me a little of the chilling, violent, but beautiful King of the Ring classic between Shane and Angle years ago. Miz has always been willing to go the distance for the fans and to prove himself as a wrestler, and Shane’s always had that same chip on his shoulder, too.

That could make for a special match on Sunday. Just as Shane and AJ Styles shined brightly at WrestleMania 33 in a match that few expected to steal the show, so, too, could Shane and Miz sweep the crowd of their feet this year. We’ve seen Shane leap off of Hell in a Cell and do a shooting star press before yielding to Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 34, so a Falls Count Anywhere match against one of WWE’s best mid-carders (and a former, victorious WrestleMania main eventer against John Cena!) could be Shane’s opportunity to break loose again.

Shane vs. Miz needs to be strategically placed, but it could prove to be an even bigger spectacle than Triple H vs. Batista, knowing how crazy these two men are.

And no, Shane isn’t winning. Stop it.

Prediction: The Miz
