WWE WrestleMania 35 Final Match Predictions
Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Kofi Kingston for the WWE Championship
Although I said Seth Rollins “has to win” the Universal Championship at WrestleMania, that was fanspeak. But in the case of the WWE Championship match, Kofi Kingston really does have to win, because this match is about so much more than just two competitors wrestling for a title; it’s about a Black man winning the WWE Championship in an industry where Black wrestlers are consistently underrepresented at the top.
This rivalry has been the most gripping story in WWE over the past couple of months, with all the players involved filling their roles perfectly. Bryan, who admonishes Kofi for being a “B+ player” as a nod to the very insult used against him by The Authority in the build to WrestleMania 30, has been the best possible villain for Kingston, alongside the supremely evil Vince McMahon.
And Kofi? My goodness. He’s always been one of WWE’s best, but now we’re getting to see just how good he is. The endurance and wrestling prowess he displayed in multiple Gauntlet matches was nothing short of extraordinary, and he had an all-time night inside the Elimination Chamber before just falling short to Daniel Bryan.
But now, Kingston has his one-on-one match for the WWE Title at WrestleMania, and the passion that radiates from him is contagious. This match means so much to Black wrestling fans who have waited far too long for a Black WWE Champion and rarely get to see people who truly represent them portrayed as the best in the business. Kofi has more than earned this distinction for 11 years of excellence, and I look forward to his triumphant moment on Sunday.
Prediction: Kofi Kingston
