The New Day vs. Sheamus, Cesaro, and Drew McIntyre
Result: Kofi Kingston pins Sheamus
The crowd still sang Sami Zayn’s theme song despite his scathing promo upon his return on last night’s episode of Raw, and he wasn’t amused by the WWE Universe cheering him on before he spoke. All Zayn said was this, “Yeah…you’re not worth it,” flipping the mic as he left.
Sheamus and Xavier Woods began the six-man tag match, with Woods keeping Sheamus on his toes before Big E tagged in. Kofi Kingston joined the fray, getting a two-count on The Celtic Warrior as The New Day isolated the former world champion.
After the break, Big E was throwing Cesaro all over the ring, planting The Swiss Cyborg with some nasty suplexes. He was in top form, psyching up the crowd after a splash.
But Cesaro blocked Big E’s spear with a knee and ascended the top rope for a crossbody that E was able to turn into a pinning predicament. Cesaro wriggled out of the Big Ending and tagged Sheamus, who blindsided E with a knee. Woods had to come in to break up a Double White Noise tag team maneuver, dumping Cesaro outside the ring before eating the Irish Curse Backbreaker from a fired-up Sheamus.
Sheamus called for the Brogue Kick, but Big E sent him sprawling with a clotheslines as Kofi Kingston begged for the hot tag. With the WWE Universe fully behind him, Kofi picked up the winning pin over Sheamus with Trouble in Paradise.
Kofi is getting HUGE reactions from the WWE Universe, and he’s at the top of the totem pole right now. This better be a long WWE Title reign for Kingston, whose work speaks for itself.
Grade: A, It’s amazing watching how the crowd loves Kofi Kingston, and this was a feel-good celebration for the WWE Universe. What a tag win for New Day!
