WWE Money in the Bank 2019: 5 possible winners of the Men’s Ladder Match
Elias
There are few wrestlers who are capable of generating as boisterous reactions as Elias, whose concerts and heel work have made him one of WWE’s most ironically likable characters. Elias even got a babyface run out of it, before WWE wisely decided to move him back to the tongue-in-cheek villainous side, where the crowd can have fun booing as he insults their city.
WWE’s greatest musician, Elias has yet to win a title after becoming a breakout star on the main roster. He was never tabbed for stardom in NXT, but his gimmick has translated wonderfully to the main roster, where he’s created several memorable moments. Who can forget the time he and Kevin Owens made it seem like Raw was taking place at CenturyLink on a Sunday afternoon with the noise in the arena? Or how about his encounters with John Cena and The Undertaker at WrestleMania 35 and the Raw after WrestleMania, respectively, this year?
Elias was reportedly supposed to win the Intercontinental Championship off of doppleganger Seth Rollins, who is now Universal Champion, last summer, but WWE decided to go in a different direction. Clearly, they value Elias, but will they take a gamble on him as a world champion?
It is possible Elias wins at WWE Money in the Bank 2019, producing an absolutely shocking upset, before failing his cash-in to make it three straight failures in a row for the men. I don’t think it’s likely, but with Elias, I wouldn’t rule anything out. The man is a national treasure, and the MITB briefcase would look damn good on the stage with him.
