WWE SummerSlam 2019: Match Card Predictions After WrestleMania 35

Universal Championship Match: Seth Rollins (c) vs. Drew McIntyre vs. AJ Styles
If this match comes to pass, it immediately becomes the best Universal Championship match in history. Amazing what happens when Brock Lesnar isn’t involved, isn’t it?
Fans have been clamoring for AJ Styles to go against Seth Rollins for some time, but I don’t see that alone being the match at WWE SummerSlam 2019. Drew McIntyre has been slowly built up for the past year or so as one of the most formidable challengers to any superstar in WWE. If he’s not involved in the Universal Championship picture by summer, someone dropped the ball big time.
However, if WWE decides to roll with just Styles vs. Rollins to “give the fans what they want,” McIntyre could still get involved via Money in the Bank briefcase. I could even see him being so confident that he would cash-in early and make himself an official part of the match ahead of time, rather than take the Rollins-at-Mania route and cash-in mid-match.
Why would AJ Styles be in this match? Frankly, why not? Half the superstars to hold the Universal Title so far are also former WWE Champions — Rollins, Lesnar, and Roman Reigns. AJ could be trying to add to that Hall of Fame résumé. We know Rollins has vowed to be a fighting champion, so a “dream match” against Styles is right up his alley. Throw McIntyre in there as the true heel and foil for both, and it’s a spectacular match.
You’ll notice that there are some big names left off this WWE SummerSlam 2019 hypothetical card — The Hardy Boyz, Randy Orton, Baron Corbin, Eric Bugenhagen. Bray Wyatt may be coming back soon, too, and Harper just returned from injury. But that’s the trouble of a huge roster and limited matches for one show.
Which of these matches do you think are the most likely to happen at WWE SummerSlam 2019?
