WWE Superstar Shakeup 2019: 3 reasons why Sasha Banks should go to SmackDown
Sasha vs. Asuka or Becky would be awesome
Asuka initially joined the main roster as a member of Raw before transitioning to SmackDown Live after competing against Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 34. Since then, Asuka has won the title, only to be blindsided by Charlotte again, and seems poised to remain on the Blue Brand.
With Becky Lynch holding two titles and having called out Sasha on Twitter, the possibility of a Sasha vs. Becky rivalry is tantalizing. And if it were to happen, Sasha could be a great choice to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship and carry on the title’s legacy as the show moves to FOX. Becky can’t defend both titles forever, even if a long reign is preferable for many fans.
But even if that doesn’t happen, a Sasha vs. Asuka feud would be worth more than the price of admission. On a random episode of Raw in late January 2018, shortly after Asuka’s main roster call-up, The Boss and The Empress put on a television match for the ages, putting it all on the line. Sasha’s selling in that match was INSANE, and Asuka showed off her ring awareness and viciousness in a match that stole our hearts.
A full feud between Sasha and Asuka could be appointment television on SmackDown Live, which will need to pull out all the stops for FOX in the fall. FOX wants SmackDown to be sports-centric? Sasha and Asuka could definitely deliver on that with a series of brilliant, game-changing matches on Friday nights.
