WWE Superstar Shakeup 2019: Do Not Move These NXT Stars
The Sky Pirates
Io Shirai and Kairi Sane are two of the best women’s wrestlers in the world. In fact, there was a time when they, along with Asuka and Mayu Iwatani were considered the greatest in any promotion. Since then, three of the women have stepped through the ropes of a WWE ring while Iwatani has remained in other organizations. If Shirai and Sane were to look at Asuka’s run with the company, they should both see that their best interests are to stay on NXT where they can best prosper.
There are a couple of reasons for this recommendation. First, Shirai and Sane are firmly placed at the top of the women’s division in NXT. Sane is a former champion and Shirai was featured in the women’s four-way at NXT TakeOver: New York. She Shayna Baszler makes her way to the main roster, it would not be unexpected to see these two remain on the short list of potential champions. They both could serve the company well as women’s champion as fans are firmly behind them and they could put on great matches. If either were moved up to Raw or SmackDown it would be nearly impossible to see them getting placement over the likes of Mandy Rose, Lacey Evans, Charlotte, Becky Lynch or anyone else.
However, there was hope when the women’s tag team titles were introduced. It seemed like Sasha Banks and Bayley were headed for a lengthy reign to build the credibility of the titles. That is now called into question as the IIconics are champions and they are not as well known for their great matches. Many hoped that we would get to witness a tag team match between the Boss ‘N’ Hug Connection and the Sky Pirates. Now that Banks and Bayley have dropped the titles and are going through other issues with WWE Creative, that dream match seems far off.
