Bianca Belair

Bianca Belair has all the tools. She’s eye catching physically, has the interesting story of a prospect making her way into the world of professional wrestling, and she has the tools to be a force in the women’s division. Yes, she’s still green when compared to many women’s wrestlers on the roster; but as a home-grown product of the WWE Performance Center; Belair has everything needed to become a poster child for the WWE’s new development process.

Unfortunately for Belair, the WWE and the wrestling community as a whole – WWE continues to struggle with its use of women of color. Names such as Banks, Asuka, Alicia Fox and others have been misused year and year and there doesn’t seem to be any light at the end of the tunnel. This is the same organization that featured only white women as the main faces for WWE Evolution – a moment that was supposed to tout all women in professional wrestling. Calling Belair up to the main roster wouldn’t help change that narrative any time soon.

It’s hard to gauge Belair’s future in the company currently. She’s been in the title picture on NXT for the last few months but continues to lose to Baszler in convincing fashion. Plus, Sam Roberts hasn’t pumped the brakes on denigrating her during uncomfortable segments on pre-shows. As these issues continues to pile up, it would be best for Belair to remain in NXT instead of moving to the main brand and getting pushed into the background.
