Brock Lesnar

Let’s start with the obvious one, shall we? Vince McMahon seems to love Brock Lesnar more than anyone else in this universe – and that includes Paul Heyman. Lesnar lost the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 35 in the show’s opening match, getting stomped by Seth Rollins thrice to help Raw finally get a full-time champion again.

As a part-timer, Lesnar probably isn’t winning the WWE Championship, and there would surely be disastrous consequences if he were to end Kofi Kingston’s reign. But Lesnar adds value to SmackDown as an occasional presence up until the fall when FOX broadcasts it weekly. Lesnar can help cross-promote the show, since most NFL fans are well-aware of who the former Minnesota Vikings defensive lineman and UFC Champion is.

WWE fans won’t want to see Lesnar on the sacred Blue Brand, which has been known as two hours of sports entertainment greatness since last year. Whether that changes after Road Dogg’s resignation remains to be seen, but, hopefully, a Lesnar “signing” doesn’t halt the incredible momentum SmackDown has built from between ‘Mania 34 and 35.

Heck, SmackDown is already behind the ball because they lost WWE’s most must-see superstar (the ACTUAL guy who built SmackDown after the recent brand split), though, I guess, that’s why Vince is so hard-pressed to sign a big name to fill the void left by a fully legit  A-Lister.
