WWE: Naomi really needs to be womens champion by the end of the year

Ever since Naomi lost her WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship to Natalya a little over a year ago, Naomi has rarely been anywhere near that title ever since. There’s been Natalya, Asuka, Becky Lynch, Carmella, and three Charlotte Flair championship reigns since then.

Naomi did get a championship opportunity against Asuka, the now former (sad face) SmackDown Women’s Champion Asuka, all the way back in December 2018, but they weren’t going to have Naomi win that championship that night and everyone knew that — and she didn’t.

Naomi really does need a title reign on WWE Raw. Her first reign on SmackDown wasn’t long enough to be booked any kind of way. Then, it was stripped away from her for an injury that wasn’t even worthy of such an action.

With other wrestlers, they would have worked around such a small injury. With her, they made her relinquish it all together and it was tragic to watch.

Her second championship reign was longer (the second longest single reign, third overall). But, she didn’t have proper competition to really make her championship reign the best it could be.

She really does need to be champIon again especially since she still has so much to prove.  She out of all people can do it and I have some ideas.

What really does need to happen: Heel Naomi making her return

As you can see from the tweet above, it seems like Naomi has quite a lot on her mind ,and a heel turn would be the perfect time to let those feelings out. It’s not like she doesn’t have a right.

Let’s do a list, shall we?

  • She’s clearly talented in the ring, but she’s shockingly underrated.
  • She’s constantly always having to put everybody else over
  • It’s clear the WWE doesn’t, and has never, truly taken her seriously as a wrestler despite how they try it make it seem on commentary sometimes — even with her accomplishments.
  • They keep giving her the short end of the stick pretty much every time — especially in recent years
  • Everyone else seems to get more (legitimate) championship opportunities than her — even people who haven’t even been in the company as long as her.
  • They rarely even try to book her in quality storylines
    • Prime examples: The way they booked her championship reigns and that hideous storyline with Mandy Rose, Naomi, And Jimmy Uso.
  • Her treatment from prejudice and straight up racist fans

I can go on and on with that list. But, you know what’s the worst part of it all?

We’ve been here before.

Remember when Naomi first went heel back in 2015?!

Listen to what Naomi was saying! Pay attention! (Zoom to 2:39 please)

“Someone like me, with my natural abilities, my talent, my charm, my athletism deserves to be the top diva. — You don’t understand what it’s like to struggle, to give your all, to be overlook[ed], and underappreciated by the very same people you are trying to impress. On day one, you received a title shot.”

Ok. I admit it. I didn’t entirely appreciate heel Naomi back then either. I slept. It weighs even heavier now looking back at it all. But, I also noticed some things about this as well.

For one, for a heel, she sure was losing pretty much all of her matches. I thought WWE heels won by cheating a lot and using heel tactics. So, that’s weird.

And then, she was frequently mocked by the crowd. The crowd has a tendency of doing that to a little bit of everybody. But, it felt like it was coming from a different place when it came to her.

A large majority of the live crowds never really took her seriously no matter what she (and the rest of Team B.A.D) did and i’m not sure who to place that on — Naomi, WWE creative, or both.

But, you can tell where she was coming from in those promos fell on deaf ears.

It gets even more uncomfortable when you think about the fact that four years later, despite how much she’s grown, improved, and added to her list of achievements, we seem to be right back in that same place again as far as how she’s perceived and treated.

And I think the twitter battle she ended up getting into not long ago with quite a bit of wrestling fans (and trolls) should probably be the last straw.

Yeah, we need to do Heel Naomi again and this time it needs to be done right.

WWE creative needs to put more energy and more effort into this one — even if it comes by heavy force from Naomi and her fans.

There would definitely need to be more done to make the fans react more than they did before. The same way she was vocal on social media is the same way she needs to be vocal on the mic.

Wait, I take that back.

She needs to crank that up on a thousand and back it up in the ring whether she uses heel tactics to win or not.

She needs to show more of her wrestling range and she needs more stipulation matches so she can step more out of her usual box (and comfort zone).Therefor, putting her in a different playing field.

By stipulation matches, I’m thinking:

  • An Iron woman match
  • Hell in a cell match
  • No disqualification match
  • Triple cage match
  • Falls count anywhere match
  • Fans bring the weapons match
  • Last man standing match
  • No countout match
  • Parking lot brawl
  • TLC match
  • Some type of wrestling match based on her Glow Gimmick.

She needs to do whatever it takes to make the rest of 2019 and the next decade the best years of career when it comes to memorable moments, promos, and matches.

Even in a Four horse-women era, I still believe she can do it even if she has to rebel against the very company she works for.

Oh, and one more thing…

If Naomi goes heel, The Glow Mob (Naomi’s fanbase) should go heel with her!

I don’t like the idea of her turning on the entire WWE Universe because that would include the very fanbase that still continues to have her back after that iconic Clapback Match — even though it would be a heelish thing to do. I still don’t think that would be a good move in her case.

The Glow Mob being involved in some of her promos, segments, and matches could make it quite a fun era as well. I get that it could be a bit of a risk for the company to do that, but it might be worth the risk if they do it sporadically. It would definitely shake things up for sure!

The Glow Mob should be right by her side on that journey this round — Especially since they’ve been screaming for Naomi to go back heel for awhile now.

We ride. We glow. Glow Mob for Life!

Speaking of stipulation matches…
