WWE Has Reached A New Low With EC3 After Monday Night Raw
By Brett Grega
WWE featured EC3 on Monday Night Raw for the first time in many weeks. Too bad it was in what could have been one of the worst segments of 2019.
Wow. Just wow.
I didn’t think WWE could drop EC3 any lower, but boy was I wrong. Somehow, despite all odds, it looks like EC3 has dropped to a level lower than losing on Main Event.
On Monday Night Raw, EC3 looked like he was about to get a bit of a push for the WWE Superstar Shake-Up. He got a full entrance which seemed like it was being treated as something to watch.
Then, Braun Strowman came out.
Braun Strowman proceeded to absolutely demolish EC3. It was utter destruction. EC3 never really looked like he had a fighting chance. To cap off the assault, Strowman hurled EC3 through the stage.
I don’t even know where to begin when discussing a segment like that.
What was that exactly suppose to show? What purpose did it serve?
If it was meant to build Braun Strowman up, there had to be someone better than EC3 for the job. In fact, using EC3 to build Strowman up makes practically no sense at all.
No one really has any reason to care about EC3, except those who saw him in NXT or Impact. Anybody who’s only seen his work on the main roster would probably just remember him as the guy who didn’t talk and beat Dean Ambrose that one time.
In other words, he’s not exactly the kind of face that people would have a strong reaction to being pummeled and battered. At this point, someone like Heath Slater would probably evoke stronger emotions in the audience than EC3 to be honest.
That must mean this was either another character building performance for Braun Strowman, as if we actually need more proof that he’s a scarily monstrous superstar, or the start of an actual rivalry.
For the sake of argument, let’s say this is the start of a rivalry. EC3 comes out on Monday Night Raw next week and cuts a promo about how Braun Strowman doesn’t know what he’s started or who he’s messing with.
Arguably, it could be a good segment. That is, if we hadn’t just seen EC3 be absolutely obliterated without putting up a hint of a fight. It doesn’t seem like the best idea to build a superstar up for a major opponent by having him rag-dolled around the arena,
If I’m not mistaken, that role is saved for what is usually referred to as “enhancement talent.”
Maybe that’s all EC3 was being used for in that segment then. I have a hard time believing or accepting that to be the case, but it’s hard to visualize any other scenario.
I guess the best I, or anyone who still has a vested interest in EC3, can hope for is that this was just a horrible way to start a feud with Braun Strowman and nothing more.
Either way though, that segment on WWE Raw still might be the worst of 2019 so far. That’s coming from a brand using a sock puppet to push someone too.
