Eric Young

It is disappointing to look at what became of Sanity on the main roster, especially since they had all sorts of buzz after last year’s Superstar Shakeup when they debuted on SmackDown Live. One problem is that they debuted without Nikki Cross, who was critical to their success as a faction, and a bigger problem is that WWE didn’t seem to care about putting them on television.

Now, Eric Young is separated from the rest of the pack, and with rumors linking the others to either NXT UK (Alexander Wolfe) or Bray Wyatt, Sanity appears to be officially disbanded.

A veteran of the business who can make just about anything work in or out of the ring, Young has some sleeper potential on WWE Raw. But his opportunities to shine will likely be few and far between. and even superstars who seize on minimal opportunities don’t reap rewards.

Young has essentially zero chance at winning at title, as he’ll likely be a veteran talent who helps make guys like Mojo Rawley or No Way Jose look good. There’s the potential for more and that’s not a bad gig either – it’s better than what Sanity was getting on SmackDown – but nobody should expect him to become a champion.

Rating: 1/10, basically there’s no realistic chance.

Rey Mysterio

The Master of the 6-1-9, Rey Mysterio is coming off of an embarrassing loss at WrestleMania 35, as Samoa Joe basically beat him in one minute. Mysterio came into that match at less than 100-percent, having suffered an ankle injury in the main event of Raw prior to ‘Mania, courtesy of Baron Corbin. In that match, of course, Corbin defeated him with a “Deep Six”.

Mysterio, who seemed to be ticketed for a rivalry with Lars Sullivan before WWE decided to move the former NXT star to SmackDown Live, has an opportunity to get his revenge against Samoa Joe with the United States Championship fully expected to be a part of Monday Night Raw.

Is Mysterio the most likely candidate to defeat Joe for the championship? I’m not sure, because Joe should have a long reign with the title after waiting more than two years to pick up his first championship on the main roster despite excellent programs with Brock Lesnar and AJ Styles.

But Mysterio is a legend, and WWE will most likely book him to win at least one title in his return stint with the company. That title won’t be the Universal Championship, though Mysterio and Seth Rollins should have at least one killer match between them.

Rating: 8/10, it’s hard to envision a guy like Rey Mysterio NOT winning a championship.
