WWE: Dana Brooke Has A Chance to Show Out at Money In The Bank
Dana Brooke was recently announced to be participating in her very first Money In The Bank ladder match. She may be the underdog going in, but she has a very good opportunity to make a mark.
It’s easy to write off Dana Brooke as a competitor.
Well, rather, WWE creative has made it easy to write off Dana Brooke as a competitor.
Called up from NXT a bit too soon to accompany a re-debuting Emma, Brooke found herself with a brief push before being paired with Charlotte Flair and then eventually getting lost in the shuffle of the Monday Night Raw women’s division.
Still, Brooke has always taken the ball she’s been given and ran with it, no matter how absurdly shaped it was. Take her brief stint as the statistician of Titus Worldwide, where she not only dressed the part but constantly acted it as well, playing along great as the nerdy hypewoman to Titus O’Neill and Apollo Crews.
Which is why Brooke is a particularly intriguing addition to the Money in the Bank ladder match from the Raw side.
At this point, Brooke is an unknown quantity compared to her competitors. Natalya, Naomi and Alexa Bliss are well known as champions and Money in the Bank competitors. In fact, Natalya will have officially competed in all four women’s Money in the Bank ladder matches after this year’s event and Bliss won last year’s match. Brooke, however, has been nowhere near any of it.
Still, if there’s one thing Brooke has been known for, it’s perseverance. Between being constantly underestimated by the fanbase (and that includes occasional Main Event commentator Sam Roberts), being treated as a sidekick/doormat to Emma and Flair, and not even being used for long stretches of time, Brooke has always bounced back to work hard and make a good impression.
In fact, Dana Brooke has quietly been getting better under our noses. She wasn’t given this spot in Money in the Bank. She earned it.
Win, lose or draw, Brooke has the opportunity to have a star-making performance at Money in the Bank this year. And if she wins? All the better to make the WWE Universe eat their words with.
