Kofi Kingston (c) vs. Kevin Owens [WWE Championship]🔵

Kofi Kingston could presumably have a very short WWE Championship reign because SmackDown Live will soon become the Kevin Owens Show. After Kingston defeated Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 35, Bryan was rumored to have an injury and has been off television ever since then. Big E also obtained an injury a week after, thereby leaving The New Day with only two members. This left many to wonder who will be the next contender for Kingston’s WWE Championship.

Due to Big E’s injury, Owens decided to join The New Day and replace Big E by calling himself Big O. Once he gained Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods’ trust, he backstabbed them instantly on SmackDown because his ultimate goal all along was to win the WWE Championship, a championship for which he never got his promised one-on-one match since returning from injury in March. It won’t be surprising if Owens dethrones Kingston because Kingston was most likely not even in WWE’s original plans to win the title at WrestleMania 35.

WWE gave the fan base what they want for the WrestleMania moment, but that’s all they’re going to get because WWE will frequently see someone who looks like Kingston as a placeholder champion, never a legitimate champion. If there’s any doubts about that, just witness Bobby Lashley’s two short Intercontinental Championship reigns that he never retained as well as Sasha Banks’ four short Raw Women’s Championship reigns that she never retained. With that being said, it is foreseeable that Big O is winning the WWE Championship for the first time in his career.

Prediction: Kevin Owens🔵
