Lacey Evans costing Becky Lynch the SmackDown Women’s Championship at Money In The Bank was a great call by WWE that should extend a star-making rivalry.

Lacey Evans has stepped up on the WWE main roster. Scratch that, Lacey Evans has straight up grabbed the proverbial brass ring and ran with it since she started her feud with Becky Lynch.

Her character work has been next level lately. Just re-watch her entrance at Money In The Bank if you need any proof. That was some grade A heel work right there.

In the ring, she’s shown an ability to hang with one of the most popular champions in recent WWE history too. Her match and subsequent assaults on Becky Lynch throughout Money In The Bank were crucial to crafting what ended up becoming perhaps the highlight moment of the show.

Add all that up and you get a superstar who’s clearly ready to be a main-event caliber star.

That’s one of the biggest reasons why WWE’s decision to have Lacey Evans cost Becky Lynch her SmackDown Women’s Championship was so great. It allows Evans the chance to continue to flourish on the main roster uninhibited, by likely extending her rivalry with Lynch.

There’s no potentially awkward transition away from the title picture that could damage her already impressive run. Evans first major loss on the main roster can now be just 1 chapter of an entertaining feud.

It then doesn’t have to be the impetus for Evans to drop back down the card, as we’ve seen too far often occur in these kinds of situations in the past. That would have undoubtedly left some to possibly wonder if her push was just a one-time event. Now however, Evans has ample time to settle in at the top of the division where she’s proven she belongs these past few weeks.

Lacey Evans is not the only benefactor of WWE likely extending this rivalry though.

Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair can now, once and for all, move away from their seemingly never-ending feud.

There was a clearly audible rumbling among fans when it was revealed that the two were going to square off one more time at Money In The Bank. Many seemed to see it as an unnecessary continuation of a stale feud, and rightfully so given how long those 2 have been fighting each other.

However, with Evans costing Lynch her match against Flair at Money In The Bank, which in turn set the stage for Bayley’s cash-in, there’s now a clear path for 2 fresh rivalries to lead the women’s division.

Lynch now has a clear path to continuing her great rivalry with Evans on Raw, while Flair and Bayley likely have months of quality matches and segments with one another ahead of them on SmackDown.

Next. AJ Styles shouldn't have lost clean to Seth Rollins. dark

Altogether, that means the decision to extend Lynch versus Evans leaves fans with a bright and intriguing future for both brand’s women’s divisions, ensuring that they easily remain a high point of WWE programming for months to come.
