WWE: 5 Superstars ready to capture WWE’s vacant US Title
By Kyle Brown
1. Dominic
I beg your pardon, what?
If you missed the news a while back about Rey’s son, Dominic, beginning to train for an in-ring career, you are forgiven. It was reported last September that he began training with former WWE performer Lance Storm, but the news was treated more as an after-thought at the time.
This seems like a move right in WWE’s wheelhouse; the up-and-coming son of a future Hall of Famer seeking retribution on the man who put his father out of commission.
My goodness, they are actually going to do this, aren’t they?
Dominic is no stranger to the WWE screen. Prior to his role in the current Rey/Samoa Joe story, he was the centerpiece of the 2005 custody storyline between Rey and Eddie Guerrero where Eddie claimed that he was Dominic’s real father. The issue was resolved, naturally, through Rey ‘winning custody’ in a ladder match.
Rey has recently applied for a trademark for the name Prince Mysterio, which would presumably be Dominic’s ring name.
I have no idea how Dominic will fare as a competitor, but if WWE can capitalize on the emotion of the current injury angle with Rey, he will be coming in with a better story than half the locker room currently has.
Also, I can’t imagine Rey would let his son make his major debut unless he felt Dominic was ready.
I think this is the one we’ll get. I can’t say I would be totally upset with it. If I can’t have Ricochet or Velveteen Dream, give me Prince Mysterio!
