AEW is getting ready to present All Out on August 31, 2019 in the same city that hosted All In last year, and we’ve just been treated to a huge match announcement. Kenny Omega will take on Jon Moxley for the first time ever!

AEW is still coming off of an amazing night at Double or Nothing that set the wrestling world ablaze. The night culminated with the shocking AEW debut of Jon Moxley, formerly known as Dean Ambrose during his tenure with WWE.

Jon Moxley will have his first match in AEW later this month at Fyter Fest against “Bad Boy” Joey Janela, but now an even bigger match has been set. At AEW All Out, Jon Moxley will compete against Kenny Omega in a match that had seeds planted back at Double or Nothing.

Moxley appeared at the end of the night’s main event, which pitted Chris Jericho against Kenny Omega with the winner later competing to become the inaugural AEW World Champion. The match between Jericho and Omega was bitter and brutal, with neither man holding anything back.

In the end, Double or Nothing was Chris Jericho’s night. After nearly half an hour of grueling action, Chris Jericho landed his newest devastating move and finished Kenny Omega with The Judas Effect. The spinning elbow strike took down Omega and put Jericho on the path to face Hangman Page to crown the first AEW World Champion.

However, as exciting as all of that was, everyone was talking about what happened after the match. As Jericho berated the crowd and demanded a thank you for what he’d done for AEW, the fans started to buzz and turn to see Jon Moxley descending through the crowd towards the ring.

More from All Elite Wrestling

Moxley slid into the ring to a huge reaction, and Jericho looked completely stunned when he turned to see the man he’d once faced off against in WWE standing in an AEW ring. Moxley initially attacked Jericho, but then turned his sights on Kenny Omega.

Omega and Moxley brawled out of the ring and into the crowd. Despite some hits and efforts from Omega, his exhaustion from the match was simply too much. The brawl slowly made its way towards the stage, where Moxley dragged Omega up onto a huge stack of giant poker chips.

Jon Moxley made one final statement about his arrival in AEW by driving Kenny Omega head-first into the poker chips with a double-arm underhook DDT he’s started calling Death Rider. AEW Double or Nothing ended a way no one could have expected, and it’s set the stage for a true dream match.

A few years ago, this was a dream match fans thought they’d only see if Kenny Omega made the leap to WWE. With the creation of All Elite Wrestling, this is yet another moment fans will be clamoring for. Kenny Omega is a former IWGP Heavyweight Champion, while Jon Moxley is a former WWE Champion.

On top of the personal issues already established between these two men, there’s an extra layer that we don’t yet know if AEW will include. Jon Moxley recently made his NJPW debut and captured the IWGP United States Championship.

Just under two years ago, Kenny Omega became the first-ever IWGP US Champion. Now he’ll be going up against the current champion inside what will surely be a sold-out Sears Centre Arena in Chicago, Illinois.

This match will surely set the stage for one of AEW’s most bitter early rivalries, and we can expect an instant classic from a reinvigorated Jon Moxley and “The Best Bout Machine” himself, Kenny Omega.
