WWE: Ricochet has a new shirt, but it’s an absolute fail (Photo)
WWE superstar Ricochet is one of the most talented wrestlers in the world and regularly makes the crowd question human limits. Yet WWE’s uninspired T-Shirt designs remind wrestling fans that, yes, humans are indeed fallible.
On Sunday, Ricochet will face Samoa Joe at WWE Stomping Grounds for the United States Championship, and it could be the first time “The One and Only” wins a title on the main roster.
Ricochet only debuted on Raw and SmackDown Live (he is now a full-time Raw superstar) in 2019, so it would be quite the ascent for him to defeat Joe, who didn’t win a main roster title for years.
To commemorate Ricochet’s endless talent and branding as a “superhero”, WWE Shop released a new T-Shirt for Ricochet. “Superheroes R Real”? Hmmmm….pass…
As one of my favorite accounts, “Dan the Wrestling Fan”, noted, the catchphrase sounds way too much like “Toys R Us” and not in a good, nostalgia-filled way. And my colleague Patches Chance noticed that this looks awfully like a shirt they took from the old Neville template…
The replies to the WWEShop.com tweet show that fans aren’t interested in this design, which is a shame, Ricochet is well-liked by wrestling fans and is an easy babyface to get behind. He’s also one of the most talented story-tellers and, yes, athletes inside the squared circle, and his amazing matches with Cesaro quickly got himself over.
A better T-Shirt would have gotten people buzzing, and WWE probably could have done some really cool stuff with Ricochet’s merch. As it stands, this is Ricochet’s second T-Shirt design, and the first is just as boring. I think it’s basically supposed to be the four corners of a ring surrounding his name? We can’t get anything better with the “One and Only” catchphrase even?
Yes, I do wish WWE hired more awesome, talented fan artists to make killer merchandise, but even more than that, I wish Ricochet the best of success on the main roster this year. He’s so close to winning his first title after defeating some huge names in a Fatal Five-Way elimination match.
The future is bright for Ricochet, and you could give him no merchandise and he’d still get crazy over. I mean, the “One and Only” moniker was given to him for a reason.
