AEW Fyter Fest: Full card and predictions

Jon Moxley vs Joey Janela – Unsanctioned Match

Jon Moxley shocked the world when he appeared in the climax of AEW Double or Nothing to attack Chris Jericho, a referee and Kenny Omega. The latter of whom Moxley will be competing against at AEW All Out. But first, he has his first match in this promotion at AEW Fyter Fest. They could not have found a better debut opponent for the former WWE Champion than Joey Janela.

Like Moxley, Joey Janela made a name for himself on the independent circuit by competing in hardcore deathmatches. Hell, for many wrestling fans, their first introduction to Janela was when he tussled with Hangman Page (more on him after this) at All In last September in a Chicago Street Fight.

Janela is arguably at his most captivating when he’s taking part in hardcore matches, so, in many respects, a match of that ilk versus Jon Moxley – an innovator of the deathmatch in his own right dating back to his pre-WWE days – is a match made in Heaven. Or Hell, depending just how medieval these two get on each other.

Hopefully, this one doesn’t get too wild – we don’t want to see Janela seriously hurt himself by jumping off of a roof through a truck this time and we certainly hope that neither man dies in this match; the “Please Don’t Die” chant is a thing for a reason. We should expect, however, just the right amount of anarchy to make for a fun rollercoaster ride.

We should also expect Jon Moxley to pull off a win. Because, come on, as much as we all love The Bad Boy, The Death Rider has no business losing his debut match a month before wrestling his biggest post-WWE match yet versus a former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.
