Kevin Owens vs. Dolph Ziggler could join a loaded Extreme Rules 2019 card
WWE Extreme Rules 2019 already features a loaded card, but there are a few more big matches that could be added to Sunday’s show. Kevin Owens vs. Dolph Ziggler is reportedly one such match that could take place in Philadelphia.
Kevin Owens turned babyface on the July 2 episode of WWE SmackDown Live when he hit Dolph Ziggler with a “Stunner” to close the show, and this emphatic statement against “The Show-Off” came after Owens cut a brilliant promo insulting Drew McIntyre’s former sidekick.

There’s plenty of bad blood between Owens and Ziggler – so much so that the two may have a match on Sunday at WWE Extreme Rules 2019. POST Wrestling’s John Pollock reports that Owens vs. Ziggler is expected to be added to the card, though there were previously rumors that a Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Finn Balor match or a Kairi Sane and Asuka vs. IIconics match could be added.
Unlike Nakamura vs. Balor or Kabuki Warriors vs. The IIconics, Owens vs. Ziggler wouldn’t have a title on the line. But it would be another Pay Per View match pitting two of WWE’s best in-ring performers against one another. Wrestling fans are fully behind Owens as a babyface, so it looks like WWE may want to keep building his momentum by having him defeat Ziggler on Sunday.
On this week’s episode of SmackDown Live, Owens cut a Promo of the Year candidate on Shane McMahon, shouting out superstars like Liv Morgan while telling Shane McMahon exactly what everyone in the WWE Universe thinks about his ego trip.
Extreme Rules already has several huge matches like Kofi Kingston vs. Samoa Joe, a mixed tag “Winner Take All” main event pitting Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins against Lacey Evans and Baron Corbin, and a tag team tilt between The Revival and The Usos. Oh, and how about that hoss fight between Bobby Lashley and Braun Strowman? Or Aleister Black’s first main roster singles match against Cesaro?
A match between Ziggler and Owens would make the Pay Per View that much more stacked, because while they are familiar foes, nobody can overlook these two veterans having a barnburner at the Wells Fargo Center.
