WWE: 3 reasons why we need The New Day vs. The Club
The New Day can boost The Club’s cred as a heel faction
Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, and AJ Styles are established names globally in professional wrestling and don’t necessarily need additional credibility when it comes to the believability of them, say, holding all the gold. But the risk with a stable as talented as The Club is that they become too cool and too well-liked as heels, which WWE generally likes to avoid.
That won’t be an issue against The New Day, because there isn’t a single faction that is as universally loved as this trio. Immediately, any heel tag team worth their salt will be able to generate heat from the audience in a rivalry with The New Day, and, thus, The Club wouldn’t have any problems asserting themselves as WWE’s most villainous force.
There’s also the fact that Big E, Xavier Woods, and Kofi Kingston can get the most out of The Club on the mic. Gallows and Anderson are two incredibly talented talkers, and AJ can hold his own on the mic as a heel. But in the past, the segments between these two teams left something to be desired, partially since The Club need The New Day to be the ones to take the lead.
The New Day, as the babyfaces, can be witty, incisive, and likable, drawing out the worst in The Club. Gallows, Anderson, and Styles will have to be ruthless and odious when feuding with WWE’s top babyface faction, and the rewards could be plentiful for one of wrestling’s most recognizable trios.
