WWE Cruiserweight Championship Kickoff Match: Drew Gulak (c) vs. Tony Nese

Our second match of the WWE Extreme Rules Kickoff Show had a fiery start as Drew Gulak went right after Tony Nese. Without a single bit of hesitation, Gulak assaulted Nese with a flurry of offense and took control of things.

He got Nese to the outside and even came flying off the apron with a powerful clothesline. Back in the ring, Tony Nese tried to get some momentum, but couldn’t hold it for long. The reigning champion used wrist control to keep the pace where he wanted, slowing down Nese’s agility.

Tony Nese turned the tide, even looking for The Running Nese, but Gulak slipped away. Caught up in the ropes a moment later, Gulak was dangling above the apron when Nese hit a breathtaking moonsault off the top rope, driving Gulak into the apron during the process.

Nese looking like he had the win after hitting a 450 Splash that drove his knees into the sternum of Gulak, but the champion kicked out. It didn’t take long for Gulak to recover and finally plant Nese with the Cyclone Crash for the win to retain his title.

Grade: A, This was a fantastic match that really showcased what 205 Live is about. There was power, agility, and everything in-between.
