WWE Raw Tag Team Championship Match: The Revival (c) vs. The Usos
Next up we had more tag team action as The Revival defended their WWE Raw Tag Team Titles against The Usos. The history between these two teams has been very personal, but they are most defined by being truly spectacular tag team competitors.
Scott Dawson started things off against Jey Uso as the two men traded several quick near falls. Dawson regrouped as Jimmy Uso was talked in. Jimmy scored some offense, quickly tagging back in Jey as they went to nail double superkicks on Wilder, but Scott Dawson dragged him out of harm’s way.
Of course, the outside isn’t safe as a few minutes later we saw The Usos flying to the outside with dives onto The Revival. The Revival then began to isolate Jey Uso, wearing him down and keeping him away from his own corner.
Jey finally managed a tag to his brother Jimmy, but the referee was distracted and didn’t see the tag. As a result, Jimmy was forced back out and Jey Uso was isolated yet again. The Revival continued to wear him down, but couldn’t hold the line forever.
Dash Wilder tagged in and seconds later we saw Jimmy Uso finally get the tag and enter the action with a flurry of offense. He went after both members of The Revival before eating a sitout powerbomb from Wilder that almost gave The Revival the win.
The Revival continued the offense with Scott Dawson back in, later planting Jey Uso with a superplex and Dash Wilder coming off the top with a splash immediately after. Jimmy Uso hit a splash of his own to break up the pinfall and the action continued.
After a quick sequence, The Revival got Jimmy Uso isolated just long enough for them to hit The Shatter Machine to pick up the win and retain their titles.
Grade: A-, Nothing wrong here, just a good tag team match continuing the show. Not super special compared to their usual stuff, but still a great match that showed both teams strengths.
Aleister Black vs. Cesaro
Next up we had the much anticipated moment where Cesaro picked a fight with Aleister Black. For weeks we’ve seen Aleister Black begging for someone to come at him, and tonight was finally the moment it would happen.
Right after the bell rang, Aleister Black went to finish things early with Black Mass, but Cesaro dodged it. A few moments later we saw Cesaro return the favor by trying The Neutralyzer, but Black countered out of it.
Cesaro dropped to the mat, crossing his legs and making Aleister Black for a moment. It seemed to only frustrate Black, who unleashed a series of strikes before sending Cesaro to the outside and hitting a moonsault from the second turnbuckle to Cesaro.
Back in the ring, Black looked to end things again with Black Miss, but Cesaro countered again. Cesaro continued to fight back, hitting a springboard European uppercut that could be heard to the edges of Pennsylvania.
As the match continued, Cesaro began to take control and wear down Black. With a series of holds and a gutwrench suplex, he then looked to finish it with another springboard uppercut only for Aleister Black to drive his knee into the jaw of Cesaro.
The two men started trading uppercuts and Cesaro went for The Neutralyzer once again, but Aleister Black slipped out and suddenly caught Cesaro with The Black Mass to put him out for the count of three.
Grade: A+, This was a really fantastic match. Someone I know said it felt like an NXT match, which is a very good thing. This one is worth the watch.
Backstage, we saw a segment with R-Truth and Carmella where Truth was hunting for reigning WWE 24/7 Champion Drake Maverick aka Hornswoggle. Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross emerged from a door a few moments later.
Truth eventually continued his search elsewhere at the urging of Carmella. Alexa Bliss revealed a gift she had for Nikki Cross which turned out to be one of Alexa’s t-shirts for Nikki to wear during their match. The Street Profits also popped up a few moments later and gave us some hilarious backstage banter.
