WWE Extreme Rules 2019 power rankings: Brock Lesnar made his deposit
By Mark Justice
6. Big E and Xavier Woods
Persistence is key in life, and The New Day has built up a five-year dynasty worth celebrating. Indeed, The New Day has been a faction for five years, and Big E and Xavier Woods just won their 6th Tag Team Championship in astonishing fashion.
They dethroned Daniel Bryan and Rowan in a triple threat match with Heavy Machinery to become the new SmackDown Tag Team Champions at Extreme Rules. Daniel Bryan looked pretty livid when he lost, and he is definitely not done in his quest to facilitate a tag team revolution.
So, expect Bryan and Rowan to earn a rematch against The New Day at SummerSlam. Nonetheless, all three members of the New Day are champions going into SummerSlam. They are bound to continue “dripping.”
5. Kofi Kingston
While Big E and Xavier Woods were busy earning the SmackDown Tag Team Championships, Kofi Kingston was busy retaining his WWE Championship against Samoa Joe. It was a first-time match up for Kingston and Joe, and it was excellently done.
Kingston is primed to be one of the best WWE Champions in history, and it shows in his promo work, in-ring work, and inspirational character development. The question remains: How long will he keep this up?
At SummerSlam, he could be in for a challenge. There have been vignettes of Ali, in which he preaches to facilitate change as WWE Champion soon.
Considering that Ali was replaced by Kingston in the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber Match in February, there could be a juicy storyline in store for these two on the road to the biggest event of the summer.
