WWE Raw: Bray Wyatt should face Demon Balor at SummerSlam
By Bassam Kaado
After months of speculation, he’s here. Bray Wyatt’s Fiend debuts on WWE Raw and captivates.
YOWIE WOWIE! What a night for the WWE Universe! The Raw after Extreme Rules had some ups and downs, but we were offered a treat when Finn Balor lost his match against Samoa Joe. The former IC champion was celebrating as usual with his music playing and the fans chanting along with him.
Then, something happened.
The music started to slow down, warping until it reached silence. The lights started to flicker out, section by section covered in darkness. Once we saw nothing from black, we were offered a glimpse.
And there he was.
Finn was trapped in the vicious Sister Abigail. Bray Wyatt had returned, holding his prey hostage as he soaked in the spotlight as the Fiend.
The lights flashed and flickered, until Balor was set to the mat and we were just left with the horrifying image of the Fiend staring into the abyss: an image of Bray Wyatt looking strong. This, my friends, is a scary thought, because he finally did it. He has the whole world in his hands.
So where does this leave us? As it is known, I am a massive Bray Wyatt mark and I wrote a whole article about how he should be booked once he is back, and that still stands. What is intriguing is how this may go down.
Wyatt attacking Balor seems to be a logical start to feud at SummerSlam, which would be a great showcase for the Fiend and help build the resurgence of Wyatt in the eyes of the public.
Numerous sources including Pro Wrestling Sheet are claiming that Finn Balor has requested time off from WWE post-SummerSlam, which is intriguing if the Prince gets into a feud before his departure.
The most logical conclusion is that Finn will lose and put someone over before disappearing for a month or two. Bray Wyatt being that person gives him a boost, story wise, since Balor is coming off an Intercontinental Title reign.
What makes this intriguing is how will Balor approach SummerSlam. Since the show is one of the Big Four PPV’s for WWE, it is treated as a spectacle. This would be a great stage for Finn Balor’s the Demon to show up. Having the Demon King face the Fiend is a tantalizing, mouth watering match that could potentially steal the show.
However, WWE has done a great job protecting the Demon since the persona has not lost a match on the main roster. This leaves the match with two possibilities: Wyatt faces Finn Balor regularly or Wyatt faces off the Demon.
Not only should Wyatt face the Demon, but I believe The Fiend should be the first person to defeat The Demon.
This is what Bray needs. The man has done everything to set the stage: the promos have been solid, the build has been glorious. Now he only needs the wins to propel him center stage.
He doesn’t need the spotlight. He will light the way. All we have to do is . . . Let him in.
